General
  • Open the app, point your camera at any receipt, and tap. ReceiptOne reads the merchant name, date, total, and tax amounts automatically — no typing required. Paper receipts, email receipts, and PDF invoices all work.

  • No problem. The receipt is still stored, dated, and categorized correctly. Tax fields simply show empty in your reports — which is accurate, since not every purchase is taxable.

  • Yes. Export as PDF or CSV any time — formatted for your accountant, bookkeeper, or your own CRA filing. Your data, your format, no lock-in.

  • Tag any expense as reimbursable when a client or employer should pay you back. Filter your reimbursables into a separate report and send it directly — no more digging through receipts at billing time.

Tax & CRA
  • No — and we're upfront about that. ReceiptOne organizes your receipts, mileage, and home office expenses with the tax details CRA asks for — GST/HST, PST, and more — so your records are accurate and ready. Your actual refund depends on your full tax situation, which your accountant or tax software calculates.

  • It's the running total of GST/HST and QST (where applicable) shown on your receipts — the input tax credits (ITCs) and input tax refunds (ITRs) a self-employed person or small business can typically claim back from the CRA and, for QST, Revenu Québec. It's a reference figure, not a guaranteed refund amount.

  • Provincial sales tax (PST — charged in BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Quebec's QST) is generally not recoverable as an input tax credit the way GST/HST is. We flag it separately so your records are accurate when you file.

  • No. ReceiptOne organizes your receipts and expenses so that filing — whether you do it yourself or hand off to an accountant — is fast, accurate, and stress-free. We don't file taxes on your behalf.

  • The CRA requires business records, including receipts and logbooks, to be kept for at least six years from the end of the last tax year they relate to.

Pricing & Plans
  • Everything: unlimited receipt scanning, automatic GST/HST/PST extraction, mileage tracking, bulk upload, multi-device sync, and PDF & CSV exports.

  • Yes — cancel in one tap from the app. No phone calls, no cancellation fees, no questions asked. Your data stays accessible until the end of your billing period.

Mileage & Home Office
  • Log a trip by entering your start and end addresses — ReceiptOne calculates the route and distance automatically via Google Maps, then applies the current CRA rate. No manual odometer math needed.

  • The CRA requires a contemporaneous logbook — each trip needs the date, starting location, destination, business purpose, and kilometres driven. ReceiptOne's Log Trip feature captures all of this automatically as you go. Read the full mileage deduction guide

  • Based on the square footage of your workspace relative to your home's total finished square footage, applied to your home expenses — rent or mortgage interest, home insurance, utilities (heat, electricity, water), and maintenance — per CRA's business-use-of-home rules.

  • Yes. They're tracked independently in the app, and both flow into your T2125 report.

Integrations
  • Not yet — email forwarding is in active development. For now, receipts can be scanned with your camera or uploaded from your photo library.

  • Yes. Send a photo of your receipt to our Telegram bot and it lands in your ReceiptOne account instantly — no app switching required.

Data & Security
  • Your data is stored and processed on Firebase and Google Cloud infrastructure. Depending on where our service providers operate, information may be processed or stored in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions — see our Privacy Policy for details. Read our Privacy Policy

  • Your receipts, expenses, and other records are deleted when you delete your account, unless we're required to retain them longer for legal, tax, or security reasons. Some infrastructure providers may keep hashed or cached copies for a limited period (typically up to 30 days) for fraud-prevention and security purposes before those residual copies are removed.
